I need a altec lansing guru, that can tell me about a altec lansing incremental 2200 amplifier. its a fan forced 8 channel, I aquired from the marcus east gate cinema remodel. it seems to work fine but, i would like to bridge the channels together for more power. the cover states I have that option.

    GREAT AMP!

In order to help you, I need to know which cards you have.

Each of the modules (cards) has a number on the facing edge, including the input ones. The only one that doesn't is the fan module.

What are the model numbers and quantities of the cards you have in your mainframe?

    Cool

I believe that they are 75 watts per card.

I would try to find a manual for the system to view all the available options.

There were also some factory service bulletins on them as well.

    Keep it cooled/ventilated. forums

We didn't have much luck with them when they came out for use in combining systems/ballrooms in hotels back in the day. forums

    OK -

Each 2275 amp card is capable of producing 75-watts of power. They may be operated independently, or in any combination you choose.

The 2220 is your input card - unbalanced, as I recall. This accepts and adjusts up to four independent inputs.

The 2252 is, as you mention, what Altec called a "driver" card. It routes the signals through to the appropriate amp card.

You need the manual in order to properly configure the 2200 (by the way - is it a 2200 or a 2200A?). I have a full set of manuals, but not on disk - paper only. If you want a set, send me a private message via this board with your e-mail address, and we'll see how I can get one to you.

GREAT AMP! Never had ANY problems with them!

after you said non balanced only, i now realize why the balanced inputs dont work, i have the wrong card. i can now see, on the 2220 card, there is provisions for the input tranformers, however, there's just a dotted line, on the board, for them on mine....
perhaps, I'm investing too much time rejuvinating this old stuff, but, I do it anyway.
i just scrubed-up a old marantz 2285bd,it rivals the altec, but not by much. i'ts kinda-like a collection of muscle cars for me... but cheaper.

While I'm looking for those manuals, let me say this -

The 2200 IS worth the effort - very little goes wrong with them, and they sound GREAT!

In home hi-fi work, you really don't need the balanced inputs, so just use the 2220 card - there's no need for the transformers to get in the way of your signal path...

I'm still scrubbin the finger-poopie off the 2252 card, I see traces on the circuit board, have been fixed, someone soldered the traces back together, not a good patch job, I'll be fixing that next, then there is the fan, penuts, and popcorn, dustbunnies, condums.
I see it has motarola 121540's for output transistors, not bad,
my peerles power transformer, was aluminum wound, (that's icky) but in the late seveties, copper was real exspensive. I'm gonna go ahead with it anyway, I'm perfectly willing to pay you for your time, sending any literature you may have, I dont exspect you to do it for free.
what did this sell for, and what year was it manufactured?
    Dave
